Towcester Racecourse joins Premier Greyhound Racing schedule

TOWCESTER is to be broadcast on Sky Sports Racing and streamed live on attheraces.com from Tuesday, November 25, after a deal was struck between Arena Racing Company, Premier Greyhound Racing and Orchestrate Ltd.

The home of the English Greyhound Derby moves across from SIS after negotiations in recent weeks following the imminent transfer of the lease at the Northamptonshire venue to Orchestrate Ltd.

Premier Greyhound Racing will initially broadcast four Towcester meetings a week from November 25 – racing every Tuesday evening, Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoons.

Mark Kingston, Arc’s director of media technology and production, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Towcester to the Premier Greyhound Racing schedule, joining our line-up of leading UK tracks and strengthening the quality and depth of our coverage.”

Richard Thomas, chief executive of Orchestrate, added: “This long-term partnership represents another exciting step in the ongoing development of Towcester Racecourse, and we look forward to working closely with PGR to bring our racing to a wider audience.”

Recent weeks has seen Orchestrate bolster its team ahead of taking over the racing schedule later this month.

Former Crayford racing manager Danny Rayment will become Towcester’s new RM, with his deputy at the now closed Kent track, Graham Banks, taking up a similar role at the racecourse, which first staged greyhound racing in December 2014.

Previously Towcester has staged National Hunt racing and Tony McCoy rode his 4,000 winner here on November 7, 2013.

The last horse racing meeting was May 2018, but the new Towcester management has expressed a real desire to return horse racing to the venue, with point-to-point meetings a first step.
