Towcester Racecourse Reopening Information & General Guidance

We are reopening to the public on Sunday 27 September!

We currently race on Sunday afternoons, and will start more racing on Saturdays From November 7th. We will only be taking bookings for the Sunday race meetings now. This can be done via our bookings page by emailing info@towcester-racecourse.co.uk or by calling 0800 304 7700 and our friendly staff will be able to assist you.

Please note its strictly bookings only. Walk-ins not permitted at this time.

Up until the 27th September will remain behind closed doors with only trainers and owners being granted access.

General Guidance for Owners Attendance

To minimise risk for owners and racecourse staff, the following provisional measures will be in place during the early stages of return and until further notice:

A maximum of two owners per Greyhound can attend for their race(s) only.

Pre-registration is a requirement. This process will be administered by Towcester Racecourse and only confirmed attendees will be granted access to the racecourse. Owners will need to email either the stadium at: Booking@towcester-racecourse.co.uk or phone 0800 304 7700 to register up to 12 pm on the day of racing they wish to attend. This will be capped on numbers on a first booked basis.

Names of all attendees along with telephone number will be kept for 21 days in line with government guidelines with regards track and trace. This must be given at the time of booking.

For the avoidance of doubt, for Syndicates and Racing Clubs, it will be the responsibility of the Syndicate/Club member to submit the names of those individuals attending the fixture.

Owners who are not registered to attend will not be granted access to the racecourse and should not attend the fixture.

All owners attending a fixture are required to only attend if they are not showing any symptoms of COVID 19, as per government advice.

Temperature checks will be done on arrival and you may be refused entry to the track based on your temperature.

To facilitate 2m social distancing requirements and avoid entry delays, owners are requested to arrive at the racecourse no more than 20 minutes before their first Greyhound is due to run and leave the racecourse within half an hour of the final race in which they have a confirmed runner.

At present, in line with government guidance, face coverings are not mandatory but are expected to be worn whilst in Towcester Racecourse.

Owners will have access to dedicated ‘owner zone’, which will be separated from the ‘trainer zone’ and zones used by race day workers by a barrier. For infection control purposes, movement between the areas of the racecourse will be restricted to essential racecourse (e.g. cleaning) staff only.  Unfortunately, owners will not be permitted to any contact with their greyhounds whilst at the track due to the dedicated zones.

There are no catering/drinks facilities available for owners, toilets facilities will be available.

There will be no betting facilities or on-course bookmakers in attendance until further notice.

Following the conclusion of their race(s), owners are asked to leave the racecourse within half an hour to allow for all owners to be accommodated.

Please also be aware that by entering Towcester racecourse. Owners acknowledge and agree that notwithstanding the risk mitigation strategies employed by the SSS, GBGB and other industry bodies by following Government guidance, it is impossible to eliminate all risk and there remains the potential for unintended transmission of COVID-19 between attendees.

All attendees must play their part in minimising the risk to themselves and others by complying with the guidelines, racecourse terms and conditions of entry, and the COVID-19 requirements as set out in the GBGB Rules of Racing.

All owners attending a race meeting must ensure that they have read and understood this document, together with the relevant sections of the GBGB guidelines and operating procedures for behind closed doors racing.  Owners are also requested to familiarise themselves with current government advice on COVID-19.

This document will be updated periodically, in line with changes to government guidance around COVID-19 and the return of sport.

As part of our commitment to keeping our staff and our customer safe we have adopted all the governments Covid-19 Secure guidelines along with many extras of our own for that added security. You can be confident you are in the best possible care when visiting Towcester Racecourse, If you have any concerns or recommendations, there will be a member of our team available at all times to assist you.

Yes. We have plenty of hand sanitiser stations located in and around the stadium for you to use and are giving away our 50ml sanitiser on entry with online bookings.

Yes. Pre-booking is essential for any visit to allow us to manage Towcester Racecourse capacity levels. We will not be able to accept walk-ins until further notice.

Pending availability, booking can be up to one hour before the first race.

In line with current government guidelines, bookings at present will be a maximum of 2 households (support bubbles count as one household) sitting together – though this will be reviewed as guidelines change. Please note we can only sell maximum a maximum of 6 per table to each booking so a booking of 12 will be over two tables.

To help keep everyone safe and adhere to current guidelines you will be assigned a table for the night at the time of booking and this will be your table throughout the event.

Guests will be required to stay seated unless using the toilet facilities or smoking area.

Our toilets are checked and cleaned hourly. Cleaning staff are available on site for every meeting. If there is anything not to the standard you expect then please bring this to our attention.

When you arrive at your table this will be explained in detail to you by a member of our staff but in summary, we will be operating a table service and a tote operator and waiter will be allocated to specific tables to take your order and bets.

Yes – however, we encourage all guests to use contactless or Debit and credit card wherever possible. Card is accepted throughout the Stadium apart from on the Tote, Tote betting remains cash only.

Yes – your contact information you provided will be taken at the time of your booking and kept securely adhering to GDPR for 21 days.

Menus are available on our website (https://www.towcester-racecourse.co.uk/restaurant/ and social media platforms.

Your tote operator and waiter will introduce themselves upon your arrival.

We will be using disposable menus and cutlery will be wrapped in serviettes and placed on tables when your food is served. The waiting staff on the night will explain the processes in detail to ensure you are happy with the service you will receive.

Supervisors and Management will always be on site to ensure you always have someone to attend to you during your visit.

No, unfortunately this service is currently suspended.

Unfortunately, we can only allow food and drink purchased at Towcester Racecourse to be consumed on site.

Children are welcome to the Stadium but will be required to attend booked in under our “Kids Pack” / “General Admission” / “Restaurant” as an add on to your existing booking. Our bookings team can guide you through this process when you make your booking. Please call 0800 304 7700. Children must remain seated throughout the event.

Yes, all customers above the age of 18 will receive a race card and disposable pens are available upon request.

Unfortunately, the front terracing is allocated for our owners and trainers. Smoking areas are located on the opposite side of the bar area and will be clearly signed as such.

All our staff serving tables will be wearing face coverings.

Yes, our lift will be available to use, but only for one person plus a carer at any one time.

The lift will be cleaned and sanitised as part of our enhanced cleaning schedule.

There are some minor restrictions within Towcester Racecourse, areas have clear TV screens to view races so wherever you are sat, you will be able to view the racing.

At this time, we will not be facilitating onsite bookmakers. The Tote will be the only source of betting within Towcester Racecourse.

If there is availability, we will be able to transfer your booking with prior notice but on the night this will not be possible.

Restrictions in movement apply to everyone. Unfortunately, trainers will not be able to visit tables anywhere in the stadium.

We will have social distancing officers located around the stadium. We are all in this together and your safety as well as ours is the top priority. We will work in accordance with the current guidelines in a friendly and professional manner.

Yes. You will be able to stand up, but please be considerate to those around you.

Parking is still available for all our customers and is currently free. Please follow our guidance and instructions when walking from your car to Towcester Racecourse entrance.

Our dress code is smart casual both in the restaurant and bar areas.

You can place Win, Place, Forecast, Trio, and Pick 6 Jackpot bets on the tote.
