Towcester Racecourse are delighted to announce that Matchbook Betting Exchange have agreed a deal to sponsor the upcoming Maiden Derby at the home of the English Greyhound Derby. The competition proved very popular last year and was won by the Patrick Janssen trained Thorn Falcon who followed up that success by being crowned the 2021 English Greyhound Derby Champion.

The Matchbook Betting Exchange Maiden Derby for 48 greyhounds over the 500m Derby trip will be run over 4 rounds starting on Sunday 10th April and then continuing on Sunday 17th April and Sunday 24th April with the Final set for Sunday 1st May. All 4 rounds will be covered by both SIS and RPGTV. The competition is restricted to UK greyhounds who have not won an open race and also International entries who have not won an A00 race.

Matchbook’s Chief Marketing Officer Eric Hegarty said: “At Matchbook, we are delighted to partner with Towcester Racecourse as the title sponsor of the Maiden Derby. Last year’s competition was a terrific success, with Thorn Falcon’s subsequent win in the English Greyhound Derby highlighting the potential of this competition. Having the opportunity to showcase the Matchbook Brand and our Greyhound Betting Markets while supporting the Greyhound racing industry in the United Kingdom is one that we are incredibly excited about.”

Our Greyhound betting markets continue to be industry-leading, and we pride ourselves on offering competitive prices on each and every race. We urge anyone searching for value on their bets to check out Matchbook.com.

Nathan Corden of Towcester Racecourse said: “This is fantastic news for the competition and it follows on from Matchbook Betting Exchange’s commitment to sponsor the St Leger at Limerick later in the year. I’m sure there will be plenty of interest in the competition from both sides of the Irish Sea as it is a pre-cursor for the English Greyhound Derby.”
