Kieran McNamara

Currently: Hospitality Supervisor

“I found out about Towcester Racecourse through word of mouth advertising, looking to progress into the fine dining side of the hospitality industry, I thought this would be a good grounding for me and my career path. I was not let down.

I was taken through an intense training programme which was very insightful and inspired me to settle in quickly and see what I could achieve. I had never been to a greyhound racing track before and did not know what to expect from our clients or as an atmosphere in general, I was nervous but excited. Throughout the evening the atmosphere was upbeat and fast paced and I enjoyed every second. It made me want to achieve more than just being a team leader and go onto management opportunities.

Towcester Racecourse kept offering training programs and this allowed be to build up my confidence to work with customers and understand their needs throughout their evening.

Even now I am still being offered opportunities to take on apprenticeships and training schemes to help build up my portfolio in the hospitality industry. This has really helped me stand out from others in my job roles and has allowed me to take on more areas than others usually would have been able to. Overall it has made me feel a lot more confident and well-rounded in fine dining.

I do hope to go on and achieve more here at Towcester and aspire to one day take on a more senior management role and I strongly believe Towcester Racecourse will help me to do that and will support me throughout the rest of my time here.”
